Field Characters-Bright golden yellow with black on wings and tail,and a black eye -streak through the eyes.Females are duller and greener olive colored with streaks on the underparts.A common breeding summer visitor in North India.
Distribution-All India except Northeast,up to about 2000 M in Himalayas,Bangladesh,Pakistan ,Sri Lanka,not in Myanmar.Indian golden Oriole is partial migrant,it Breeds in Pakistan,Uzbekistan,Turkmenistan,Tajikistan and Nepal.
Call- A harsh Cheeah and a clear fluty whistles like Peelolo
Nesting -April to July.A beautiful woven deep cup of grass and bast fibers bound with cobweb,suspended in fork of leafy twig 4-10 M up.
Eggs-2-3,spotted with black or reddish brown.Both sexes shares all domestic duties.
I travel a lot to click these beautiful creatures in last 6 month but unable to spot them, Suddenly on 7 the April I saw them on a tree in front of my Home.
ReplyDeleteI run fast with my Gears to click them but they disappear for few minutes but later on I got their clicks( inispite of all odds as small monkeys continuesly teasing and disturbing them)
